Right now we are in what they call O-Week. Basically it is orientation for everyone who goes to UC so they have all of the different sessions telling you about the things that they offer or other things to do. Last week we were here for Fresher’s week, which was for all of the new people moving onto the ressie. So far this week has gone pretty well, I’m learning a lot and through the many activities they offer I’ve been meeting lots of people. I believe I got my schedule figured out, they [...]

I swear airports make it their job to add additional stress to people’s lives! Woke up Friday morning to falling snow, awesome, thinking that somehow it would mess up my travel plans. Checking the flights, everything was on time. So I proceed to get myself ready, make sure everything is packed, and that I was all set to go. So… I guess I’m back! When people ask me, “How was Ireland?” what can I really say?? I’ve been trying to come up with a sentence to sum it up, because from my last study abroad or any trip I’ve taken, people will ask and tune out 2 sentences in since, frankly, it’s hard to understand. It’s not a sad thing to realize, but there’s no way to truly capture the experience. I saw beautiful things, sad things; I was exhausted and energized; I met some of the most amazing [...]

It’s easier for me to upload pictures on kaleysmith.myphotoalbum.com so if you want to see my pictures, there they are! But here are a few example of what you’ll find there. It’s been pouring rain for the past 3 days, but it hasn’t rained here for like 3 years so it’s not so bad. My course schedule got pretty crazy after the first day because genetics (most important course) was cancelled for the semester so I had to redo everything, but I got it all figured out and so after [...]

Finally all moved in to my flat in Brisbane. it’s 4 boys, 2 girls, all people I’ve spend the past week with so it should be interesting and fun. We blew a fuse playing some music the first 10 minutes. Anyway, on Tuesday we planted trees for the Cassowaries and then went out to a pub crawl (they do those way too much in Cairns). Wednesday was the best day… The Great Barrier Reef. It was one of the most beautiful things I’ve seen in my whole life. We swam [...]
