I’m pretty sure the title of this post is: Packing Extravaganza! (Still working on my Italian.)
Going abroad isn’t anything new to me. I’ve been out of the country on my own twice before in high school, so packing shouldn’t be hard right? Wrong. There are only 12 days until departure and packing a suitcase for two months takes a lot of preparation (just how much shampoo does one actually use in that amount of time? I guess I’ll find out.)
I started packing the essentials tonight:
THE ESSENTIALS IN AN EXTRA-LARGE SUITCASE:
1. A journal. Hello, I’m a writer. This is what I do. But, instead of spilling all the juicy details to you guys, the private stuff is going in there. There are some life events not everyone needs to know about.
2. Peanut butter. Apparently Italians don’t like peanut butter so it’s really expensive and comes in small jars there. This is my solution.
3. Battery powered alarm clock. No cell phone means no alarm.
4. Toothpaste (clearance at Target AND comes with a free toothbrush!), contact solution, prescription drugs etc. Obvious reasons why.
5. Sunscreen and aloe. Rome is HOT. And sunny. And beautiful. And my paleness means I burn easily.
6. Notecards. I keep forgetting about the whole “taking classes” part of this……
7. Adapter and converter. Volts? Wattage? Electricity? I don’t know what any of that means, but the bottom line is: last time I was in Europe, my hair dryer blew up–literally EXPLODED. So hopefully a better converter will solve that issue.
