Hello everyone! I hope you all are doing well.
First off, I just wanted to apologize for being so irregular with these posts. In the beginning I was doing pretty well with getting them out there on Sundays for you all to read, but lately I’ve just been pretty busy, (or the days are getting shorter) and I just completely lose track of what day of the week it is.
Today I am thankful for classes that get cancelled. My one class that I have on Thursdays got cancelled for this week, which means that today was my last day of class for the week. Know what that means? 5 DAY WEEKEND! Know how I’m going to be spending it? Doing homework. I have so many papers/presentations due in the next few weeks, so I’m hoping to just crank them all (or at least most) of them out throughout the remainder of this week. We’ll see how that actually goes…
This weekend was pretty fun. It was St. Patrick’s Day on Friday and I bet you all can guess what I spent my night doing…. Yep. You guessed it. Seeing the new Beauty and the Beast movie. I HIGHLY recommend you go and see it. Lots of tears were shed between the three of us 20 year old girls that were living out childhoods in that theatre.
Saturday was a little more eventful. My roommate Jilly and I went to the Camden Market (for the millionth time because we love it so much) for the St. Patrick’s Day festivities that they had going on there. We walked around the market for a few hours, had some really good Thai food, and then sat at an outdoor bar and listened to this musician play guitar and sing for his whole 2 hour set. He was incredible. If you’re into indie pop with a hint of rock music like I am, here’s a shameless plug & link to his band “The Blooms” newest music video –>
On Sunday we went to the Tower of London, which is otherwise known as “Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress of the Tower of London”. In simpler terms, it was a bunch of towers that created one big castle and has served as an armory, a treasury, a menagerie, the home of the Royal Mint, a public record office, and is currently the home of the Crown Jewels of England (AKA all of the crowns/swords/dishes/any other expensive thing covered in jewels). Overall the place was really cool and was something that I’m happy I saw, but that being said, medieval things aren’t really my things to look at. I thought the architecture itself was beautiful, and the Crown Jewels of England were indescribable. Especially the Imperial State Crown that was worn by Queen Elizabeth II at her coronation ceremony in 1953… but I don’t think the Tower will make my top 5 of the things I’ve seen/done since being here. (That being said, if you’re into medieval castles and things of that nature, then you’d absolutely love it!!)
I’ve also been pretty sick for the last week or so, and I’m hoping that goes away sooner rather than later, because let me tell you… being sick when you’re in a different country and not having the option of sleeping it off in your own big comfy bed in the comfort of your own home, means you have to resort to sleeping in a college dorm room type bed where you can feel the springs in your back and then spend 7.5 hours in class the next day.
This weekend one of my friends who is studying in Madrid for the semeter is coming to London for the weekend, so we’re getting together on Sunday morning and I’m super excited because it’s always good to see familiar faces when you’ve been away from your loved ones for so long. That night my program is going to the England soccer game at Wembley Stadium and I’m really pumped about that, even though I’m not really a huge fan of soccer, or should I say, football… (yes I mean football and not futbol… English people are weird)
I LEAVE FOR BARCELONA IN 9 DAYS. I’m a little excited if you couldn’t tell…
My program officially ends in 32 days so that’s really bittersweet.
That’s about all I’ve got for this week. I’ve been missing interactions with friends and family from back home, so seriously feel free to send me a FaceBook message or send me an email or something and I’d love to catch up and hear how life is going for you, or tell you about my trip in more detail.
I attached two pictures from this past weekend for you to look at as well.
Until next time,
