PATAGONIA VIDEO

The long-awaited Patagonia video is now up and running! This trip was one of my favorite places I have ever experienced and the video and pictures only capture parts of its beauty. It’s truly something you have to experience in person to fully understand how incredible Torres del Paine actually is. But, I hope you can start to understand how this place captured a piece of my soul.

COAST OF THE POETS TRIP

This past weekend was my first overnight excursion in Chile on a tour called “La Costa de los Poetas” and the translation is fairly straight-forward: Coast of the Poets. We left Friday morning to head to Isla Negra, the home of Pablo Neruda, arguably Chile’s most famous poet. Photos are not allowed within the house so, sadly, you’ll have to try to visualize it or google to see if anyone was brave enough to break the rules and post the results on the internet. His home is now preserved as a […]

Off on the next adventure!

This is a long one people… two days of travel so bear with me! As we drove to the airport on 11/3, I said goodbye to one last Minnesota sunset for another month. I said goodbye to the colorful, autumn leaves that will be long gone when I return, and probably replaced by snow. I said goodbye to my family and friends once again and hopped on a plane praying for the best. They handed me some weird, warm moist towelette that smelled good on the plane. I thought it […]

El fin de los fin de semanas…

This last full weekend in Ecuador was definitely one to remember. As I mentioned in my precious blog, we spent the weekend in Baños. Our sweet, sweet hostel was called La Casa del Molino Blanco and it was magnificent! When we arrived on Thursday night, we spent some time relaxing on the hammocks outside and taking a HOT (praise Jesus) shower. Friday, Madeline and I spent the day doing something we haven’t really done since we’ve been here — relaxing. We ate our delicious complimentary breakfast and headed out to the terrace […]

No Seas Boludo

It’s November… Scroll back, what? I have hit three months in Argentina. I am nearing a hundred days. What? One of my classes finished this week, another finishes next week, and finally, by the 16th of November, all of my classes will be finished (besides the final I have on the 24th). I have eleven days until I start my summer vacation and three weeks until I begin my travels around Latin America. That’s insane. Time is a magnificent contradiction. Besides the fact that school is almost over, the last […]

¡Bienvenidos a Mindo! — Weekend 2

This weekend Madeline and I decided to venture north of Quito to the beautiful city of Mindo, Ecuador. Mindo is kind of like the jungle without actually being the jungle (is what we have been told). The bus ride here was impeccably green. All of the mountains were covered with dense forests and it was hard to see through the brush on the side of the road. Truly unlike anything I’ve seen so far in Ecuador and absolutely beautiful! The bus ride from Quito to Mindo was supposed to take […]

Week two down — two to go!

Can I stop the time from going so fast please? No? Okay fine. I am having the best time here in Ecuador. I can’t believe I’ve already stumbled upon the end of my second week of clinic. It’s been a whirlwind but I have had so much fun and I have learned more than I ever thought possible. This week, Madeline and I were again in the Hospital Eugenio Espejo with Dr. Patricio Hidalgo. I got to see some amazing things while in this hospital. I met a lot […]
