London Adventures – April 17

Happy Monday, everyone! I’m currently sitting in class watching the film, “American Honey”, and ironically enough I can’t get over the fact that at the end of this week I will be back in the States and back with all my friends and family from back home. Don’t ask me how the time went so fast, because honestly I have no idea either, but if you figure it out, let me know… I have 5 more days left of my adventure and I have so many things that I’m going […]

London Adventures – April 10

Happy Monday, friends and family! It’s a beautiful day here in London today, and yet again I’m stuck in class for 7 hours. As difficult as that may be, I’m trying to make the most of it seeing as though I only have 12 more days here in this lovely city. How crazy is that? I feel like time has flown by so fast. I feel like it was just yesterday that I was standing on the deck in my backyard calling my dad to tell him that I got […]

A Pence For Your Thoughts

Days have been long  and nights even longer, but I have never been happier. I still wake up every morning and smile just knowing that I am living my dream of traveling and exploring the world. The hectic life of a poor traveling college student is a life I would never give up for the world! Since the last time I posted I have traveled to Hungary, Ireland, Italy and Denmark…. I know, it’s a lot. While all my travels have been memorable and amazing in their own way, the […]

London Adventures – Feb. 14

Helllooo everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, but honestly, I’ve kind of just been relaxing this last week and trying to take in everything that’s being thrown at me while here in London. Last week, and weekend for that matter, were very low key and not a lot happened… (which kind of sounds dumb to say considering the fact that I’m in London), but in all reality, I’ve basically been going to class, doing homework, and drinking a lot of coffee because midterms are next week. That […]

London Adventures – Jan 29

Happy Sunday everyone! This past week was pretty laid back for the most part. School was good! I love my classes which makes sitting in class a lot more tolerable. In all three years of being in college, I have never been late to a class… until this last Thursday. My roommate Josie and I were at the tube (subway) station and we got on the tube like we do every day, when we realized that we got on the tube that was going the opposite direction of where we […]

London Adventures – Jan. 22

Hey guys, This weekend was pretty eventful. Friday was a day off from classes, so my roommate Josie and I went to a small coffee shop and got some homework out of the way. We then went to Chinatown and saw what life is like there the week before the Chinese New Year. We had real Chinese food… because the closest thing we’ve all had is Panda Express. I even tried squid for the first time. (I don’t think I’ll have it again…) We then went back towards our apartment […]

London Adventures – Jan. 19

Hey friends, As of about 12:50 this afternoon, I officially finished my first week of class in London. (!!!!!) My classes are really cool and actually super interesting. I just seem to find myself drinking lots of coffee before hand because classes are 3.5 hours long… yep, you read that right. One class is 3.5 hours long. Because they’re so long, you only have each class once a week, which is kinda nice cause you have a lot of time to work on homework. But at least I’m enjoying what […]

London Adventures – Jan. 13

This weekend we did all things touristy. We went on this 4 hour coach bus tour through London, and I guess I never really realized just how big this place is. So many times throughout the tour I thought we were in a different place, but turns out it was just a different part of London. Apparently my apartment is in THE area to be in in London… especially considering the fact that Madonna lives just down the road from me… (!!!!) I also got to see Buckingham Palace… Sadly, […]

A Content American

Something I’ve noticed in England is how many Americans, within days of landing in Britain, begin trashing the United States.   “Yeah, American politics are a joke.”   “Americans are fat.”   “England rocks. America needs to get its shit together.”   It’s like a giant, self-conscious apology no one asked them to give on behalf of the United States.   I understand this habit, kind of. American politics can get circus-y, the U.S. certainly suffers from an obesity epidemic, and so on. But the facts rarely seem to be the speaker’s […]

Lovely London

One of my favorite things about this semester is how much I have been able to travel around Europe (ten countries and counting!). During March, though, I took a nice break from trying to fit an unreasonable amount of things into a backpack and decided to spend some quality time with my main squeeze: London. Lucky for me, spring decided to come out of hiding (who am I kidding, winter has been a breeze compared to home) fully equipped with lots of sunshine, an adequate amount of rain and that […]

London, Manifestations, and Medieval Music

Before studying abroad, I never thought I would be traveling so much around Europe. This passed weekend was Easter weekend, (Happy belated Easter everyone!) which meant students had Monday off as well. So basically, I had a 4-day weekend to explore any place in Europe. I decided to visit Portobello Market, Big Ben, and even Buckingham Palace. As you probably already know, I went to London this weekend, and it was awesome! I definitely recommend visiting London at least once in your lifetime. So, I arrived in London on a […]

twenty-fun in london town (part I)

Hello! This one is a super late post as I traveled to London almost two weeks ago. I can’t even begin to describe what’s happened these past couple of weeks. Let’s just say I’m happy to finally be settled in a room that’s bedbug-free {crossing my fingers} with a working laptop {poor laptop died last week} and finally catch up on blogging even though I was relocated to new housing and had to say goodbye to five awesome roommates. But, I’m happy that I’m still in touch with my previous roommates […]

Cheers To A Great Semester

Well, this it. I am officially done with work and classes and I leave London on Saturday (just when I got the hang of which way to look when crossing the street!). Not going to lie though, I have been pretty emotional this past week. Surprisingly, this is the first week I have actually felt homesick. Probably because the end is just so close, and also the fact that my birthday was yesterday and I really just wanted to be home for it. But that’s okay because I’ll have round […]

Al Branches Out

Guys, I did it. I got my haircut and didn’t hate it!! I know, it sounds like the dumbest accomplishment in the world but it really is a big deal. I promise. If you know me you understand. (Hi mom, I know you just rolled your eyes). You should know I have been going to the same lady since 6th grade – separation is hard. Last time, as in last semester, when I tried to branch out and go to a new hairstylist it ended in tears and regret. So I […]
