Brittany: First Day at Trendstop

This morning started off with an unexpected friendship. Let me start at the beginning, I woke up at 7am, three hours early, to prepare for my first day at Trendstop. Given the estimated 35-40min travel time to the location, I figured I would have plenty of time to get there and even grab a Starbucks beforehand (don’t judge me for being an American who loves their morning Starbucks.) Anyway, I woke up on time and felt somewhat exhausted due to the anticipation of my first day keeping me up all [...]

Chiyo: “Keep calm and put the kettle on”

I saw the above saying at Portobello Road, and I relate to that saying so much. It’s ironic because as I’m sitting here writing this blog post, I have a cup of tea sitting next to me. Thursday can’t come soon enough when I am officially on FALL BREAK!  My day at the showroom went fast like usual, [...]

Chiyo: A cup of tea

Internship orientation was 2 hours long, and I’ve learned that the British take their sweet time in explaining things, whereas us American’s tend to get to the point. Our orientation ended, and we were really hungry so we went in search of a place to eat for lunch and ended up at a no name Korean/Japanese restaurant. Lunch had ended, and we went to our “safety orientation” where we basically learned that if a guy says, “wanna go out and look at the stars?” to say no because there are [...]

Jonathan: Darjeeling!

I write while sipping a black tea here amidst the fresh, cool, mountain air of upper West Bengal. I am in Darjeeling, the hill station established by the British to escape the brutal summers of central and southern India.  Like them, and middle class Indians today, we too escaped the heat and dust and came north, where we are surrounded by the most incredible beauty.  After a final sweaty day slogging through the 110F heat of Delhi, the cool mountain air, scarfs, jackets, and winter hats of Darjeeling were a [...]
