It has officially been one month since I first arrived in Toledo and oh my gosh has it gone quick. Between orientation to the city, family and school to traveling to Madrid, Barcelona and Paris, it really has been a jam packed first month! We have our midterm exams next week and I know after that, the rest of the semester will fly by. To celebrate the one month anniversary of being in Toledo, I spent the weekend relaxing in Toledo with some of my friends. On Thursday night we went out with some of the other students from the program to a couple of the local favorite spots.

On Friday, my friends Claire, Becca and I got churros and chocolate for breakfast (a traditional Spanish must!) and then spent the afternoon at the Museo del Prado in Madrid. One of the classes I am in is called grand master painters and over the course of the semester we study five of the greatest painters from Spain: El Greco, Velazquez, Goya, Picasso and Dalí. In addition, we take two trips to the museums in Madrid to look at the works of the painters in real life. In the Museo del Prado, there are paintings by El Greco, Velazquez and Goya and it was fun and also beneficial to see the paintings we had talked about in class.

On Saturday, we walked through Toledo to the Jewish Quarter (which has some of the best views of the countryside might I add) and had a picnic complete with bocadillos- which are Spanish sub with thin sliced jamon-like ham/bacon. It was such a wonderful day outside that we actually got a little bit of sun! Then in the evening we joined our friends Matt and Jenna and got sushi and gelato and ended with a concert that was playing in the Plaza del Zocodover! It was a wonderful relaxing weekend and perfect in preparation for midterms! Now the next thing on the list is when the family is visiting in T-3 weeks!!
